AHPRA Registration
AHPRA registration is the national registration held by practitioners in Australia's 16 regulated health professions — including medicine, nursing, psychology, pharmacy, physiotherapy and paramedicine. There is a single national register that covers the whole country, with no separate state-by-state checks. Oho can confirm an AHPRA registration against that official register.
Who needs it
Any worker practising in a regulated health profession. A valid registration applies nationally rather than per state.
What Oho needs
The AHPRA registration number, which is the long number printed on the practitioner's registration (for example MED0001164086). It begins with three letters that identify the profession, so you do not need to tell Oho the profession separately.
AHPRA is matched by registration number, so the worker's name is recorded for your reference but is not what the register checks against.
How Oho verifies it
Oho checks the public AHPRA register, which usually returns a result within a minute or so. The result shows the practitioner's name, profession, the type of registration they hold (such as General, Specialist, Provisional, Limited, Non-Practising or Student), whether it is current, when it expires, and any conditions or restrictions on it.
Reading the result
Every check resolves to one of a few outcomes, shown with a colour so it's easy to scan:
| Outcome | Colour | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| MAY_ENGAGE | Green | Valid and current — the person is cleared for the work. |
| MAY_NOT_ENGAGE | Red | Not valid — for example expired, suspended, cancelled, or no matching record. |
| REVIEW_REQUIRED | Yellow | Valid but carries conditions worth a person reviewing before relying on it. |
| IN_PROGRESS | Grey | Still being checked — some registers take a little longer to respond. |
| ERROR | Grey | The register couldn't be reached; Oho will try again. |
Oho keeps watching afterwards and updates the outcome automatically if the status changes, and the worker's profile keeps a history of every check.
